Guidance about Green Cards and driving in Europe - Customers should continue to request Green cards in advance

You may have seen in the press over the last few days that Green cards will no longer be required in respect of UK resident motorists driving vehicles into European Economic Area (EEA) countries.

However, it is important to note that whilst the European Commission announced (on the 30th June 2021) that the UK would be able to participate in the “Green Card Free Circulation Area” (GCFCA)*, the Commission’s decision will not enter into effect until 20 days after the publication in the EU Official Journal, and the timing of this is uncertain.

Therefore, until further notice it is vital that our customers continue to request Green cards in advance, and carry a Green card when driving in any of the countries noted below*
